Hi, I'm Mel

I’ll start by saying that I’m a bit of a geek and love to research and find out more about all things to do with natural healthcare, nutrition, and wellbeing. I studied at the North West College of Homeopathy, where I studied for 4 years and am now insured and registered with The Society of Homeopaths. I am a great listener, which is an important skill to have in homeopathy.

I have personally found homeopathy to be extremely helpful for myself and my family, which is why I decided to train as a homeopath – I wanted to help others in the same way that my homeopath has helped me. I became aware of homeopathy in my 20’s through a hairdressing client who was suffering with MS. She told me how she wouldn’t be able to cope without it. I was initially sceptical, as I believe we should be – nobody should just take something that we’re told at face value, but I was even more interested when she told me that her 30-year-old daughter had never had any antibiotics in her lifetime, because of homeopathy. I was curious, as I had two young children who always seemed to have ear and throat infections and I seemed to always be making a trip to the GP, to pick up a prescription of antibiotics. I am naturally curious, so I did a lot of research into it and read positives and negatives, but I am open minded enough; so, when my children both developed molluscum contagiosum and the GP told me that there was nothing to help, I decided to try homeopathy. I was amazed when in just over a week of taking the right remedy, (they both had different remedies and the first prescription didn’t work for one of them, but did for the other), their spots had inflamed, dried up and disappeared and have never come back since.

How I Became a Homeopath

This was the beginning of my obsession with homeopathy, and I quickly went home and purchased ‘The Complete Homeopathy: A Guide to Everyday Homeopathy’ by Miranda Castro and a basic homeopathic kit from Helios.

I would love to listen and work with you to find out why you have become unwell, exhausted or stressed and unhappy, to gently nudge you into the direction of better health and balance.

I believe that complementary/alternative medicine can have amazing results for all types of healthcare issues, but I also believe that there is a time and a place for conventional medicine and that it is sometimes needed in an emergency. You won’t find me telling you to never touch conventional medicines, as we all do what is right for us, but homeopathy is a good option if you want to try and avoid it where possible. After all, conventional medicines do not treat the root cause and can often cause unwanted side effects.

I’m generally a friendly, empathetic, and positive person and I always aim to ensure that my clients feel safe and comfortable during their consultations. My clients often say that they already feel better in themselves by the time they have left the consultation. Sometimes an opportunity to get things off your chest and just having somebody to actively listen to you, can take a weight off your shoulders and give a more positive outlook.

When I’m not working or learning, I like to spend time with my family, go on walks in nature or spend time in my garden. I also enjoy reading and going to weekly tap classes, as well as cooking (and eating) good food and snuggling up to my cats!
